Do not accept the first quote you receive when ringing around, ask them for a reference number in relation to the quote received and contact other companies. At least if you've got a reference number and you do want to take them up on their offer, they'll be able to recall the information you provided quickly
 
Don't forget, if you're traveling outside of your country and require say European breakdown cover, it may be cheaper to pay a little more on your insurance than having to source breakdown cover separately
 
Contact as many different insurance companies you can, they always ask you "what's the best quote you've had so far?" They want your business, and often, if they can't beat your best quote, they're honest about it
