Well it seemed that there was demand to know what exactly is in a Blackbird can, and whether it is possible to drill it out to make the cans a bit noisier….Please note that we do not recommend it nor condone it.! Having had a few unfortunate mishaps on his bird, by blind car drivers and various episodes of misfortune, Nick (a British policeman working on Hong Kong) decided to do for a full on, ‘balls out’ Valentino Rossi paint job, polished rims and various other tasteful touches to make his bike come back on the road with vengeance!! Here are 4 photo’s to give you the idea of what a superb machine it looks like now! He sent us about 25 pictures in total, but naturally we could not publish them all here, after a look through they all kinda looked the same, so here are 4 pictures for you! The details are as follows: “My 1997 XX. All bodywork is by Sebimoto (Carbon Fibre, race quality-definitely
not OEM quality). Headlight is a single H4 bulb in a 4" round assembly
manufactured - designed by Yoyodine Ti. K&N air filter, Dynojet
jet kit, Erion 4-1 Race Exhaust System. Ermax rear indicators. License
plate lights are hard to see but in dark rear shots you can see tiny
bits of light coming from the 2 upper plate bolts. these actually provide
just enough light to see at night ($25 approx from summitt racing .
com). Taillights are also wired into an Integrator unit ( turns dual
tail lights into turn signals and flashes brake lights under use). I
went with a Travelcade Gel seat rather than race foam (every little
bit of comfort helps). I can't remember if my adjustable ignition advancer
is Factory-Dynojet-Vance & Hines...The bike was recently dyno'd
@ 144hp @ 170mph. I haven't had the torque checked yet. Before all the
work was done, dyno read 128hp.Graphics were done by Tapeworks.com .
The license plate bracket was made by Twochicks.com & reads: ENGAGE
LUDICROUS SPEED. The Double Bubble windscreen is a dark smoke model
by Zero Gravity. The foot pegs half tank protector & carbon fibre

IXXRA member, Arno Steeman from Holland was kind enough to send me pictures of his truly outstanding 1998 Blackbird. He has worked tirelessly getting the bike to look that little bit special, following an accident on the bike caused by a dog! Modifications include special paint, an R1 rear end and a Ducati 916 exhaust system just to name a few. The attention to detail is magnificent! ( Whilst John was at the UK Donington Race Track, he came across this fantastically modified Blackbird on his way home, at a place called Great Yarmouth, in England and is owned by a guy called Jack who is not on the net as present. Yes, “The bike that Jack built!”J It is indeed the type of bird you cannot really appreciate until you get a close look at it and appreciate the hard work that went into modifying it and getting it to totally stand out from the crowd. No short cuts have been taken with the quality of work that has went into this beast Here’s John (Site Co-Owner) to give you the low-down on just some of the modifications that have been made to what is a truly oustanding example…… “The arse end is 100% Honda VTR1000, including the sub frame. The owner made the swinging arm himself, which is some 2 inches shorter than standard, (note the upper brace) and gold wheels All the pipe work for the exhaust he made himself, and the cans are again from a Honda VTR1000. Standard forks, completely unmodified. The paint work is done by himself too, including a detail that I forgot to get a picture of. He smoothed off all the black dash surrounds and tank trims that go all the way down and painted them in such a way to make them look just like carbon fibre. | Mike Stevenson’s XX I got these pictures from Mike Stevenson in Ohio, USA. His bike has a nice ‘chromaflex’ paint job, and has DeltaGFX clocks plates fitted. Note that the needles have not been painted as yet. Anyway enjoy the pictures and here’s a few words from Mike…. “I have a 99' XX I got in March of 2000 and have been updating it sinc. I liked the orginal black paint but had a friend that works in a Ford dealership in a paint booth and he did my paint work for me. It changes color from a purple too a green depending where you stand. I heard the sound files on you site and decided to order a set of Blue Flames. Just installed the new guage faces from Delta GFX and they look great!! Here are some pics of my custom painted XX. Since I took these pics of the bike I have polished both side covers and the foot pegs and the rear foot pegs, not much else do do in Ohio in the winter. | Blackbird Sound Files This section has Blackbird sounds equipped with various exhaust systems. It will give you a fair idea on what type of sounds to expect from various aftermarket exhaust systems available, should it be a dual exit system or the more popular single-sided system. All files will play OK with Windows Media Player, once unzipped. Thanks go to all for very kindly taking the time providing these sounds of their bikes entirely for everyones listening pleasure! Thanks Guys. SeaJay’s MP3 Sound FilesThe dual/single test was done using the incredibly technologically advanced technique of covering one of the pipes with a wadded up towel in my hand. I covered one pipe and then removed the covering to achieve the desired results. Believe it or not, this is actually a pretty accurate portrayal of the single vs. dual comparison, as I have heard single sided pipes like Erion and Akropovich side by side and next to my 'Bird. In fact, TBR used to sell a single sided slip-on system where there was simply a "plug" where the old left side pipe used to be. Also remember that there is a collector, which means that there is a place where the pipes come together, and it simply makes sense that plugging one pipe gets the "single sided" sound quite accurately. I hope that helps someone looking for aftermarket pipes

Hearing it bounce of the rev limiter is very pleasing to the ear!! Nigel Johnson’s BLUEFLAME Sound Files Nigel Johnson has gone for a set of Blueflame cans to compliment his Blackbird. The sound extremely Bassy and the sound reminds me of the Yoshimura systems. Quite good quality recordings! There’s two separate sound recordings of the Blueflame cans for you to download! Two Bros systems are very rare in the UK and Europe, but are a very well known and well respected performance exhaust manufacturer along with Erion, another USA brand.
